|Arsht Farmer's Market in Miami|
If you are someone who wouldn't dream of using anything but the freshest ingredients in your recipes and you are planning a trip to Miami, definitely keep reading - especially if you will be staying somewhere that has a kitchen!
Monday is the day you need to mark on your calendar (any Monday during your visit will do). That is when the Farmer's Market at the Adrienne Arsht Center occurs every week, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. At the Arsht Farmer's Market, you'll find a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses and meat - all provided by local farmers and businesses.
Sure, you'll find the typical fruits and vegetables - strawberries, oranges, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. It's the slightly more exotic fruits and veggies that many flock to the Farmer's Market for, though. Things like black mangroves, Brazilian peppers and sea grapes along with a wide variety of organically grown produce are available.
That's not all; either, you'll be able to pick up fantastic sourdough bread from Miami's own "Zak the Baker" as well as exotic Keez Beez honeys, which are harvested a little South of Miami in Marathon Key.
If you're not all that into preparing meals, don't worry; there are plenty of fully prepared dishes and meals for you to take home or eat right there. Freshly made guacamole, burrata and mozzarella top my list. They even have smoothies made from the same fresh fruit that are the best you'll ever taste!.
It wouldn't be Miami without entertainment. Live music is performed every evening at the market and there are cooking demonstrations by some of Miami's renowned chefs, cookbook authors and food writers. If you really want a treat, be sure to stop for a bite to eat at Brava - a farm-to-table concept restaurant run by chef, Hector Torres.
Arsht Farmer's Market is located in the Parker and Vann Thompson Plaza at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts at 1300 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132.
